Using Activated Carbon for Odor Removal

Activated carbon (charcoal) has proven to be a very efficient tool for removing undesirable odors in confined areas. The surface area of activated carbon allows the media to effectively absorb organic compounds.  First, carbon is heated to very high temperatures through steam activation.  This process then increases the surface area to absorb odors. The unwanted odor enters through pores and is absorbed into the activated carbon.  Finally, as these pores are fully saturated with contaminants, the activated carbon does not change shape.  It can be reactivated using heat and ready again for absorption.  The regenerative capabilities of activated carbon offer lower operational costs for companies.

Activated carbon is used to eliminate many types of common odors.  The carbon will neutralize odors from pets, mold, human waste, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The most efficient method to eliminate odor is to place activated carbon near the source of contamination. At Delta Adsorbents, we have the right products to handle odor absorption needs.  We carry activated carbon in bags of 200-gram and 500-gram. A 200-gram carbon bag will cover approximately a 90 square foot space. These bags are typically used for odor removal in lockers, offices, and vehicles.  For spaces approximately 250 square feet, the 500-gram bag would be suitable for these larger applications.  We also sell carbon in bulk which provides flexibility for our customers to create their own sachets out of breathable material such as nylon, cheesecloth, or cotton.

Bulk quantities are offered for Activated Carbon with Coconut Base granules and Activated Carbon with Coal pellets.   At Delta Adsorbents, we aim to provide each customer with unrivaled customer service and technical expertise to handle a variety of moisture and odor challenges.  Contact us today!
