Chronic Effects & Carcinogenicity
T-38, T-86, K-Aggregate: Excessive inhalation of dust from these products can cause silicosis. Crystalline silica is listed as an IARC Class 1 potential carcinogen. It has been determined that there is sufficient evidence for the carcinogenicity of crystalline silica to experimental animals and humans. These are chronic, slow developing diseases with symptoms usually delayed 10 years or more.
T-46 & T-99: These products contain silicates at <1% by weight. Based on the chemistry of bauxite derived products, crystalline silica is not expected to be present in this product. Alumina is a low health risk by inhalation and should be treated as a nuisance dust as specified by ACGIH.
